Overview

The Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference Awards Program recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding neighborhood organizations and civic individuals from across the Commonwealth who work tirelessly to enhance the quality of life in their communities. Each year nominations are solicited to recognize the commitment of our Commonwealth’s neighborhoods and/or individuals who have tirelessly volunteered their time and energy into making their neighborhoods places they are proud to call home.

The annual Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference Awards Program provides a collective “thank you” to these nominated neighborhoods and individuals and are the only statewide awards given on an ongoing basis to neighborhood organizations and individuals for their neighborhood self-help initiatives.

The following four (4) NEIGHBORHOOD AWARD categories are available for recognition:

  • PROJECT OF THE YEAR: Effort that has made a significant impact on a neighborhood. This project can be the work of an individual or group.
  • ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR: Individual who has had a significant impact on their community during the past year. Individuals who have participated in one or multiple projects/roles are eligible. Individuals whose service is defined by its longevity are most appropriate for this award.
  • YOUTH INDIVIDUAL EFFORT OF THE YEAR: Effort of a youth individual that has made a significant impact or contribution on their community during the past year.
  • YOUTH GROUP EFFORT OF THE YEAR - Youth group effort that has made a significant impact or contribution on their community during the past year.

To be considered, eligibility requirements and application guidelines from the VSNC website must be met. All award nominees will be encouraged to register to attend the 18th Annual Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference hosted taking place in Short Pump, Virginia on September 22-23, 2017.
