While each neighborhood has its own unique issues and challenges, the annual Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference offers an opportunity for participants to learn best practices that they in turn can use to help resolve the issues impacting their neighborhood’s quality of life for the conference is attended by diverse grassroots neighborhood leaders, youth, non-profit, government staff, and others working in the field of neighborhood success. By attending the conference, participants are provided:

  • Opportunities to network with others and learn best practices for addressing neighborhood issues of the times.
  • Opportunities to become energized and encouraged with tools and information to help better serve the community.
  • A place to showcase positive strides made in their communities/neighborhoods (talent, skills, plans, etc.).

  • A Virginia statewide Neighborhood Awards Program ceremony recognizing the commitment, time, and energy of those who tirelessly volunteer to make their neighborhoods the places they are proud to call home. These awards have been presented since 2000 as a collective “thank you” to those nominated neighborhood groups and individuals and are the only Virginia statewide neighborhood awards recognizing neighborhood organizations and individuals for undertaking their successful volunteer neighborhood self-help initiatives.
