VIRGINIA STATEWIDE NEIGHBORHOOD CONFERENCE, INC. ANNOUNCES KEYNOTE SPEAKERS FOR 20 TH ANNUAL 2019 VIRGINIA STATEWIDE NEIGHBORHOOD CONFERENCE

Roanoke, VA – Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference, Inc. (VSNC, Inc.) is proud to announce registration is open for the 20th annual 2019 Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference taking place in Roanoke, Virginia on September 12-14, 2019 at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center. The 1½ day conference provides an excellent opportunity for neighborhoods and communities from across the Commonwealth to share their knowledge, experience and vision on how to make Virginia’s communities and neighborhoods - the neighborhoods of choice.

This year’s conference theme is 20 Years Empowering Neighborhoods to Make a Difference and will feature keynote speakers:

Selena Cuffee-GlennSelena Cuffee-Glenn, the Chief Administrative Officer for Richmond, VA having 32 years of experience in VA municipal government. She is a proven leader in moving communities forward. In 1999, she and Ms. Estelle H. McCadden, a Roanoke neighborhood advocate, brought together neighborhood leaders and professional staff from across Virginia that would create the first Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference held in Richmond, VA in 1999.


Afira DeVriesAfira DeVries, the US Director for the London-based international nonprofit, Spring Impact which helps socially conscious programs grow and follows her 22 years serving as the President & CEO for United Way of Roanoke Valley. Her visionary style and development experience contribute to the strategic direction and credibility of the social innovations that have led to her successful career.


Darlene BurchamDarlene Burcham, currently the Town Manager of Clifton Forge after serving as Roanoke’s City Manager, Norfolk’s Asst. City Manager and Hampton’s Social Services Director, under Ms. Burcham’s leadership and vision, communities have experienced ongoing progressive change, economic growth, thriving businesses and downtowns surrounded by healthy neighborhoods.
