2022 Youth Café

The virtual 22nd Annual Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference Youth Café continues to create a new phase of learning for youth between the ages of 13-18 years of age with workshops designed specifically to engage, empower, and enlighten them.

Youth are our future community leaders. And by participating in the Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference Youth Café, youth conference participants will virtually interact with their peers from across Virginia to learn about civic volunteer and outreach efforts they are undertaking to make a difference in their communities while developing new friendships and relationships along the way.

This year's 2022 conference Youth Café will begin with a tribute to Ms. Estelle H. McCadden, the founder and president of the conference who passed away earlier this year. This tribute will be followed by a workshop titled: Volunteerism: The Fabric of Our Neighborhoods that will encourage youth participants how to volunteer in their respective communities to educate, empower, and engage other youth - and adults - to do “Bigger and Better” works.

The workshop's objectives include:

Helping youth participants decide what their primary interests and objectives may be:
  • Do you like to read?
  • Do like to speak Spanish or interpret it?
  • Do you have plans after high school and/or college?

Assisting youth participants to:
  • Set goals for themselves
  • Volunteer in the community to educate, empower, and engage others where they live?

How to engage:
  • Incentives
  • Questions-oral
  • Surveys

The 2022 Youth Cafe' will conclude with the conference's signature event, the Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference Annual Awards Program.
