REGISTRATION OPENS FOR 19TH ANNUAL 2018 VIRGINIA STATEWIDE NEIGHBORHOOD CONFERENCE

Roanoke, VA – Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference, Inc. (VSNC, Inc.) is proud to announce registration is open for the 19th annual 2018 Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference taking place in Portsmouth, Virginia on September 14-15, 2018 at the Renaissance Portsmouth-Norfolk Waterfront Hotel. The 1-1?2 day conference provides an excellent opportunity for neighborhoods and communities from across the Commonwealth to share their knowledge, experience and vision on how to make Virginia’s communities and neighborhoods - the neighborhoods of choice.

This year’s conference theme is Waves of Opportunity, Oceans of Success in Virginia’s Neighborhoods and will feature keynote speakers:

  • Police Chief Harriet Tonya Chapman who currently serves as the Chief of Police for the Portsmouth Police Department. Chief Chapman is Virginia’s first African American female chief of a municipal police department and her professional career in law enforcement spans over 29 years.
  • Gianni Graham is the founder of the Dolls for Dolls Foundation, a nonprofit organization launched in 2015 to collect 1,000 Barbie brand dolls for homeless girls. But after news outlets shared her story, she hand-delivered 5,000 dolls to local homeless shelters and shipped others to people in other countries around the world.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend information-packed workshops, an engaging Town Hall, participate in networking opportunities and visit exhibitions. A concurrent conference called the Youth Café which is specifically designed to engage young people between the ages of 13-18 in their respective communities will also be offered to those youth attending.
