VSNC Extends Deadline for 2021 Virginia Statewide Award Nominations

The 2021 Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference (VSNC) Planning Committee is pleased to announce that the deadline for accepting entries for the conference 2021 Awards competition has been extended until Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

This year's Awards competition will focus on recognizing grassroots projects, activities and accomplishments that strengthen & support neighbors and their neighborhoods - Neighbors Helping Neighbors. If your neighborhood project or activity focused on efforts to support neighbors during the Covid-19 Pandemic and/or to increase equity and access, we invite you to enter the VSNC, Inc. 2021 Neighbors Helping Neighbors Awards Program.

Eligible projects must have been initiated & completed in your localities between March 2020 and May 2021.

The four NEIGHBORHOOD AWARD categories are:

  • Project of the Year: Effort that has made a significant impact on a neighborhood. This project can be the work of an individual or group
  • Advocate of the Year: Individual who has had a significant impact on their community during the past year
  • Youth Individual Effort of the Year: Effort of a youth individual that has made a significant impact or contribution on their community
  • Youth Group Effort of the Year: Youth group that has made a significant impact on their community during the past year

Registration Opens for Virtual 21st Annual Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference

Roanoke, VA – Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference, Inc. (VSNC, Inc.) is proud to announce registration is open for the VIRTUAL 21st Annual 2021 Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference taking place on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. This 6-hour VIRTUAL CONFERENCE will provide an excellent opportunity for neighborhoods and communities from across the Commonwealth to virtually come together to share their knowledge, experience and vision on how to make Virginia’s communities and neighborhoods - the neighborhoods of choice.

This year's conference theme is 'Building Leadership in Changing Times' and will feature keynote speaker, Dr. Marceline Catlett, Superintendent of Fredericksburg City Public Schools and recent recipient of the first Women Education Leaders of Virginia 2021 Region 3 Leader of the Year Award. In addition, attendees will participate in a panel discussion on the subject of "Collaborating Together to Create Safe and Thriving Neighborhoods, followed by a choice between two (2) 1-hour workshops: "The Importance of Succession Planning to Protect Your Neighborhood's Future" or "Remaining Relevant in Changing Times". Upon the conclusion of these workshops, participants will be able to choose between a second set of 1-hour workshops being offered: "How to Lead a Strong HOA That Creates a Strong Community" or "Living Together-Living Apart". The conference will conclude with its signature event, the Annual Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Awards Program. Additionally as in years' past, a concurrent conference called the Youth Café, a specifically-designed conference to engage young people between the ages of 13-18 in their respective communities will also be offered to those young people participating.

To make this year's VIRTUAL CONFERENCE affordable for everyone, registration is only $50.00 for adults and $10 for youth (13 - 18 years old) which includes all conference activities and workshops including the annual Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Awards Program.

Online registration allows one to register for the conference and easily pay the registration fee. However, conference payments made online will incur a small convenience fee of roughly $1.75 to offset the fee charged to VSNC, Inc. by the online service company.

All registrations must be submitted by 6:00PM on September 24, 2021 after which conference registration will be closed.

Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference Calls for Neighborhood Award Nominations

Through the years, the annual Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Conference, Inc. Awards Program has recognized the accomplishments of outstanding neighborhood associations, organizations, civic individual and youth groups from across the Commonwealth who work diligently to enhance the quality of life in their communities.

This year's 2021 Virginia Statewide Neighborhood Awards Program will focus on recognizing grassroots projects, activities and accomplishments that strengthen & support neighbors and their neighborhoods- Neighbors helping Neighbors. If your neighborhood project or activity focused on efforts to support neighbors during the Covid-19 Pandemic and/or to increase equity and access we invite you to enter the VSNC, Inc. 2021 Neighbors Helping Neighbors Awards Program.

Eligible applicants include groups of individuals, neighborhood & Homeowner associations, an individual Youth or Youth groups and neighborhood watch groups. Submissions from a grassroots non-profit organization working in partnership with a neighborhood will be considered as an eligible applicant also. Eligible projects must have been initiated & completed in your localities between April 2020 and May 2021.
